Sydney Clinical Hypnotherapist & Counsellor Samantha Jones can help you with hypnosis for anxiety disorders and panic attacks via our proprietary Optimal Evolution Hypnotherapy System™.

Anxiety is Commonplace.
Anxiety affects so many people today, and it is so common that we see clients with some form of anxiety on a daily basis.
Clients will often experience shortness of breath, heart palpitations or a racing heart, feelings of dread, like something bad is going to happen, uneasiness, nervousness, a dry mouth, digestive discomfort, butterflies in the abdominal area, etc.
These symptoms may also be accompanied by perspiring, blushing, lack of focus and dizziness.
Anxiety may be in response to a situation.
Clients may also ruminate or have intrusive thoughts.
Some forms of anxiety ‘seem’ to run in families and there may be a genetic link; however, it may also be a learned behaviour.
Generalized Anxiety & Panic Attacks
When the anxiety is generalized, there is no escape and it feels constant.
When those negative feelings ramp up in response to a situation there can be an overwhelming desire to escape and avoid those situations.
In extreme cases, it may be accompanied by panic attacks.
Symptoms include shortness of breath, sometimes to the point of hyperventilation or a choking feeling, shaking, numbness or tingling, chills or hot flushes, and dizziness.
For some, there can be an overwhelming and intense fear or terror that they are having a heart attack or are going to die.
At North Shore & City Hypnotherapy Sydney, hypnotherapy for anxiety and panic attacks assists by resolving the anxious feelings, replacing them with calm, confident, self-assured, relaxed feelings and appropriate responses to situations, while breathing normally.

Social Anxiety & Social Phobia
When anxiety relates to being around others in a social context, it is called social anxiety or social phobia.
Socially anxious clients often feel anxious about communicating and engaging with others, being caught off guard, or simply keeping an interesting conversation alive.
Some people are more anxious around people they know, others are more anxious around people they don’t know.
A lot of clients will avoid social situations altogether!
That is until they come to us and discover the benefits of hypnosis for social anxiety / social phobia and find social situations an enjoyable, comfortable experience!

[Findings]
Significant reductions in anxiety were found from baseline to endpoint and follow-up and hypnosis was superior to the control condition. Additionally, ratings of Current Anxiety decreased from pre-session to post-session at each weekly visit and the pre-session scores reduced continuously. Hypnotizability was found to moderate anxiety reductions, but regardless of hypnotizability level participants, on average, experienced significant symptom improvement from baseline scores. These data provide initial support for the use of hypnosis to reduce symptoms of anxiety among postmenopausal women.
