often recognize that they have a problem with controlling their temper, though can be reluctant to seek help in the early stages and typically will have an explanation for their behaviour until it becomes all too apparent that help is required.
Anger is a natural emotion that can be communicated in a healthy way and it can also be very destructive, and expressed in a volatile way. Think camp-fire versus bush-fire. When anger gets out of control, logical reasoning and judgment becomes distorted and impaired, and you are more likely to say things that are irrational, hurtful, and unreasonable. This can affect your relationships with friends, family, loved ones, colleagues and co-workers, and random strangers.
Unresolved anger can lead to other issues, such as depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, low self-esteem, moodiness, self-harm, etc, and can put you at increased risk of high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), to name a few.
The underlying causes of anger or any other emotional issue will vary from person to person, but may include; grief, exhaustion, pain, hunger, medical issues, physical challenges, hormones, stress, deadlines, family history, personal history, having been a victim of crime, an the list goes on.
