Hypnotherapy for ADDICTIONS & BAD HABITS:
Quit smoking, drinking, gambling, nail biting, etc.
How we can help you overcome addictions and bad habits with hypnosis
We see scores of people with addictions of various sorts…. some involve a substance (i.e., a drug as in nicotine addiction, marijuana addiction, alcohol addictions, etc.) and therefore physiological addiction, and others do not (i.e., nail biting addiction, gambling addiction, hair pulling addiction, shopping addiction, etc.).
All addictions have a psychological element to them, a need to engage in the addiction to, for example, feel good, escape, or avoid a feeling or situation. The more you engage in the addiction, and therefore the more you reinforce it, the more robust it becomes in terms of neural pathways in the brain.
Regardless of whether or not there is a physiological component, as in substance addiction, you will get a ‘hit’ or ‘payoff’ each time you engage in it. Eventually this ‘payoff’ leads to dependence and when you try to stop, a feeling of being out of control, and being at the mercy of it, which is a horrible feeling.
Bad habits in contrast are not as extreme as addictions, and there is often a feeling of choosing to engage in it rather than having an uncontrollable compulsion to engage in it. Like addictions, there are psychological elements to bad habits, and clients will commonly state that they have no or are lacking in ‘will power’ to put an end to the habit.
Generally speaking, clients tend to recognize when they are addicted to something rather than engage in the behaviour out of habit.
Some forms of addiction and bad habits ‘seem’ to run in families and there may be a genetic link; however, addiction and bad habits may also be learned behaviour.
So how can we help? I’m glad you asked!
Whether your addiction or bad habit is due to a substance and thus physiological, purely psychological or even relating to a specific situation (such as social smoking, binge drinking on a Friday), we can help you to overcome your addictions and bad habits.
Often there is an ‘unconscious’ component to the addiction or bad habit, as in you may be watching TV and realize you are engaging in it without seemingly being aware of it, catch yourself out, or someone else may catch you out!
The unconscious or subconscious as we like to refer to it as, is where we need to go via hypnosis to make the changes you want.
Through hypnotherapeutic counselling, we take a comprehensive history and identify key areas that need to be resolved in hypnosis for you to be symptom free, addiction and bad habit free. These encompass old beliefs that no longer serve you, as well as thought patterns, feelings, self-talk, and addressing the ‘payoffs’ and triggers.
And just like no two Hypnotherapists were made equal, no two addictions or habits are the same, though the outward behaviour or substance may appear identical, what is driving those behaviours, compulsions and feelings are going to be entirely different because your life experience is unique.
So how do we resolve your issues? Easily and effectively!
We take you into hypnosis and use various techniques to unlock and resolve the addictions and bad habits, build and reinforce coping strategies, self-esteem, positivity, optimism and seal the deal with confidence.
Every client is different and every session will be unique, depending on the goal and techniques used. We have been described as the ‘mixed martial arts’ of therapy! See Unique Approach.
We also recommend, where applicable, our original On Demand Hypnosis Sessions to support you throughout your transformation.
